AIRA participates in 2006 UK Rotorcraft Operations in Icing Conditions Forum

AIRA was asked to participate in and make an invited presentation at the UK Rotorcraft Operations in Icing Conditions Forum, which took place June 28-29, 2006. Over 80 people attended the two-day conference held at the Royal Aeronautical Society Headquarters in London, England from the United States, Canada and Europe.

The objective of the conference was to examine and debate the technical, certification/qualification and operational issues created by the expansion of helicopter flight envelopes into forecast icing conditions.

The conference also provided a review of future technical developments, which may allow suitably equipped rotorcraft in light, medium and heavy weight categories to achieve something close to an all-weather operating capability.

The AIRA presentation focused on an overview of the organization and emphasized the desire to include more European organizations in future collaboration activities. Several ideas were advanced regarding possible AIRA sponsored efforts related to rotorcraft icing.
