AIRA Structure
AIRA leadership comes from an Executive Steering Committee (ESC) with senior representatives from each of the member agencies. The ESC has the responsibility of developing and implementing the Research Strategy, which is done using the research priorities of each member as a starting point.
The ESC will form Standing Subcommittees (SSCs) where ever appropriate. The SSCs can include participation from industrial and academic sectors of the aerospace industry. The SSCs will plan and implement their various research efforts sponsored and/or supported by AIRA.
While AIRA is not a funding agency, it can significantly influence funding for specific research directions. Since the AIRA research strategy is being developed by agencies that either perform or fund significant research programs in icing, the strategy has de facto support of these agencies. It is also expected that AIRA support will be regarded as a statement of credibility to other funding agencies.
